Accommodations
Edinburgh has several hotels to choose from and we suggest booking as early as possible as several popular events are running the same week as ISTTE 2025. While there aren’t many big hotels close to our campus, the following list provides some ideas of hotels and their distance from the campus that may be worth looking into.
Edinburgh Napier University has three campuses around the city. ISTTE 2025 will be taking place at our Craiglockhart Campus. When selecting a hotel for your stay, you can check how far it is from our campus by using Google Maps and our postcode EH14 1DJ. Information on transport to and from the campus can be found below.
Some good resources for finding accommodation can be found through Visit Scotland’s Accommodation in Edinburgh page and the Edinburgh section at bookings.com

Haymarket
- There are several hotels in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. Haymarket station is the second largest station in Edinburgh and is the final stop before trains reach Edinburgh Waverly in the city centre. Haymarket is also well-connected via bus, tram and taxi. Haymarket is also close to BT Murrayfield and is a 10-15 minute walk into the city centre with several bars, cafes, restaurants and attractions nearby. The No. 4 bus from outside Haymarket station will take you directly to Craiglockhart Campus in 20 minutes. This bus runs regularly every 20 minutes.
Fountainbridge/West End
- Fountainbridge is to the west of the city centre and is an up-and-coming business and leisure district. This area houses the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, The King’s Theatre, and a range of eclectic bars and eateries. It’s also the birthplace of Sean Connery! The No. 10, 27 and 45 buses from Leamington Terrace will take you directly to Craiglockhart Campus in 20 minutes. These buses run regularly every 9-20 minutes.
Edinburgh City Centre
- Edinburgh’s city centre needs no introduction and here you will be close to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Waverly Station, Princes Street and a host of other attractions as well as a range of eateries, bars and cafés. Buses from the city centre take about 30 minutes to get to the Craiglockhart Campus. From Princes Street, you can catch the No. 10, 4 or 27 which will take you directly to our campus.
Social Activities
Women of Edinburgh
We believe you don't have to be a woman to be a feminist so this Edinburgh walking tour can be delivered by any of our local guides, depending on availability (you cannot choose though!). Discover stories of women throughout History: witches, murderers, mothers, and doctors.
Begin your adventure at Maggie Dickson's pub on the Grassmarket and hear the incredible story of how Maggie Dickson survived a public execution in the early 1700s. Then, make your way to Grassmarket Community Project, a social enterprise, and find out how they support vulnerable people in our community. You will also learn about the first body snatchers of Edinburgh (women) and the most successful author and Scriptwriter in the UK (also a woman). You will finish the tour at the bottom of the royal mile, hearing more stories of social enterprises that support women nowadays.

Bus
Lothian Buses is Edinburgh’s best option for getting you to Craiglockhart Campus and around the city. You can download the app from their website but can also purchase tickets on the bus by cash, card, or by using your smartphone.
Tram
Edinburgh Trams will not get you to our campus but this is a very easy way to get around the city centre, and also to and from the airport. You can purchase tickets using your smartphone, or the ticket machines at each platform. Just make sure you buy your ticket before you get on!
Train
Edinburgh’s two main train stations are Edinburgh Waverly and Haymarket and are both easily accessible via tram and bus. Scotrail is the best place to get information on train arrival and departure times. Slateford station is the closest station to the Craiglockhart Campus. It only takes about 20 minutes to walk from Slateford station to the campus – but be aware, it’s all uphill from the station to the campus! Perhaps the bus is a more comfortable option…
Taxi or Rideshare
You can catch a taxi pretty easily in Edinburgh, especially if you are near one of the main stations or central locations. You can pay by cash or card (always best to check before you get in) and a taxi from the city centre to our campus would cost between £10-20 and take between 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Perfect if you are travelling as a group of 3-5.
