2023 Awards Nomination Announcement
ISTTE presents each year several awards to its members during the annual conference. The purpose of the awards is to encourage excellence in travel and tourism education and to provide special recognition to members and former members of the Society. For this year, we are presenting four awards at our annual conference to be held at Toronto, Canada on Oct. 11-13, 2023.
1) ISTTE Martin Oppermann Memorial Award for Lifetime AchievementThe award recognizes and honors an individual who has provided significant service to the Society.
2) ISTTE Institutional Achievement AwardThis award recognizes and honors an institute that has made significant long-term contributions to the field of travel and tourism education. The contributions may be at any educational level and may be anywhere in the world.
3) ISTTE Heidi Sung Four-Year University and College Achievement AwardThis award recognizes and honors an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to the field of travel and tourism at the four-year level educational institutions granting a bachelor’s degree or higher.
4) STTE John C. Kesler Achievement AwardThis award recognizes and honors an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to the field of travel and tourism education at a post-high school, two-year degree-granting institution.
Nomination ProcedureAny ISTTE member may make nominations. The nominated individual or institution must be a current member or a former member of ISTTE. The nominator should turn in a complete nomination package that includes: (1) A nomination form (see the enclosed)(2) A letter of recommendation of no more than 500 words to demonstrate why the nominee deserves the respective award. (3) Any other supporting documents that demonstrate excellence in travel and tourism education and merit the award.
