2023 ISTTE Scholarships
The ISTTE Scholarship Committee will present two (2) $1,000.00 awards to two (2) students affiliated with ISTTE member schools during the 2023-2024 academic year. To apply, students must submit a completed application package with all required information no later than the due date. Late submissions are not considered. The entire application package is due no later than September 10, 2023 by 5 PM EDT.
Completed essays and ancillary information should be forwarded to isttescholarship@gmail.com with “ISTTE Scholarship 2023” in the subject area of the e-mail. Only electronic copies will be accepted. The committee will award 1 $1,000 USD scholarship in each of the following categories: ● Graduate Student ● Undergraduate Student (including High School Seniors, 2-Year and 4-Year College/University) Scholarship winners will be invited to participate in the virtual component of the ISTTE 2023 conference free of charge, between October 12-13, 2023. They are also welcome to attend the onsite conference in Toronto, Canada, should they wish. Contact ISTTE if they intend to attend in person onsite.

The application package should include the following
1. An Application (download the form here): including an endorsement by an active ISTTE member from the student’s institution. Please create a PDF, after the form has been signed. 2. A cover letter (one page), including: a) Student’s academic background, experience, and aspirations in the travel and tourism industry b) Reason(s) for seeking the scholarship. 3. Personal Essay: 3 page (max), 12 point font, that should include: • Personal motivation and reasoning for entering the industry of which you are studying • What you plan to contribute to the industry upon graduation • Ultimate career goal(s) 4. One-page resume
Judging
Any sources indicated in the essay must be cited. The essay will be checked for plagiarism via an electronic medium. ISTTE member faculty will judge the essays using the following criteria:1. Description (10 points) How well does the essay reflect the student’s story and passion?2. Organization and Clarity (10 points) Does the essay follow a logical and easily understood progression? 3. Impact (20 points) What may be the value or impact of the student’s contribution to the industry? 4. Writing (10 points)Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and concise language.
